GLEN RIDGE'S
LOCAL ROOFING
CONTRACTOR.

Glen Ridge is one of NJ's most intact pre-war borough housing stocks — pre-1930 colonials, Tudor revivals, and shingle-style homes lining streets that are largely within the Glen Ridge Historic District. Slate restoration, copper flashing, and historic-district shingle review are part of nearly every job here.

WHY GLEN RIDGE IS DIFFERENT

A PRE-WAR BOROUGH WITH ONE OF NJ'S MOST INTACT HISTORIC DISTRICTS.

Glen Ridge is unusual for Essex County — and for NJ generally. The housing stock is almost entirely pre-1930: center-hall colonials, Tudor revivals, and shingle-style homes that have stayed remarkably intact. The Glen Ridge Historic District covers a large share of the borough and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Working in Glen Ridge means slate is in the conversation, copper is the default flashing metal, and historic-district review may apply to exterior materials and shingle colors visible from the street. We coordinate with the Glen Ridge HPC before specifying anything visible — and we walk the roof slope by slope before any quote goes out.

FAQ · Glen Ridge

GLEN RIDGE-SPECIFIC
QUESTIONS.

For pricing, materials, and timing questions, see Services.

Do I need historic-district approval for a new roof?
If your home is within the Glen Ridge Historic District boundary, historic review may apply to exterior materials and colors visible from the street. We coordinate with the Glen Ridge HPC before submitting a final spec — and we'll bring you the documentation for your records.
Should I restore my slate or replace it?
Depends on slate condition. If 75% or more of the original is sound, restoration is usually the smarter long-term move. If failures are widespread, a slate-look designer architectural shingle — typically a heavier-weight Landmark Pro — gives a fifty-year warranty without losing the historic character. We walk every roof before quoting.
Do you do copper snow-rail systems?
Yes. Snow-rail systems in copper or aluminum are standard scope on steep pre-war Glen Ridge roofs where snow sliding off the front field is a real risk. Walked at the inspection, written into the quote.
How fast can you get out for an estimate?
On-site inspection within 48 hours of your call. Written quote within 12 hours of the inspection. Quote is good for 15 days.
