Glen Rock Roofers — Post-war Bergen, third-cycle work
Glen Rock is one of those Bergen County boroughs where the housing stock tells the story. Early-1950s colonials and capes line the canopied streets, most of them now sitting on their second or third roof. Glen Rock lots are smaller and more closely spaced than newer-construction Bergen towns. That means driveway-only dumpster placement on most jobs, careful material staging, and tarp coverage of the neighbor’s flower beds before a single bundle goes up. Tree canopy is heavy — beautiful in July, a serious debris factor in November. We tarp aggressively at end of day and clean magnetic-sweep the lawn twice before we pull the truck.
What a real third-cycle re-roof looks like
We tear off to the deck, replace any sheathing that’s soft or delaminated, and re-do every wall and chimney flashing in copper or heavy aluminum. Ice & water shield runs 24 inches past the wall line per NJ code and lines every valley. The new ridge vent rebalances against soffit intake that was undersized in the 1950s.
